Top 10 2009 AntiVirus Software Review Product Comparisons
1. BitDefender Antivirus
Is an antivirus software suite developed by Romanian-based software company SOFTWIN. It was launched in November 2001, and is currently in its thirteenth version. The 2010 were launched in August 2009, they include several protection and performance enhancements.
The BitDefender products feature antivirus and antispyware, personal firewall, privacy control, user control and backup for corporate and home users. Pc tuneup is available in the Total Security Suite.
2. Kaspersky Antivirus
(Russian: Антивирус Касперского; formerly known as AntiViral Toolkit Pro; often referred to as KAV) is an antivirus program developed by Kaspersky Lab. It is designed to protect users from malware and is primarily designed for computers running Microsoft Windows, though a version for Linux is available for business consumers. A version currently in beta testing has now been developed for (Intel Processor Based) Macintosh OS X (Leopard) v.10.4 and higher. At the moment, Kaspersky Labs does not officially support the up-coming Microsoft Windows 7, but a beta “Technical Preview” has been released specific to it, version v.8.0.0.1082.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus is a complete antivirus solution with real-time protection from a number of threats, including viruses, Trojans, bots, worms, and even spyware. The software is more than equipped for comprehensive security, and has some nice new features this year to help combat new threats.
Kaspersky also offers a 3-user license option (for 1 year), so it’s actually a very cost-effective way to protect all of your home computers.
3. Webroot Antivirus
Is the upgraded and rebranded version of the previous Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus with an added firewall protection feature. Launched in October 2007, Webroot AntiVirus with AntiSpyware with firewall protects against security threats including trojans, key loggers, viruses, hackers, data theft, and root kits. The antispyware component is powered by the original Spy Sweeper technology to protect users against spyware, adware, pop-ups and any other privacy threats.
4. ESET Nod32
Commonly known as NOD32, is an antivirus software package made by the Slovak company ESET. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is sold in two editions, Home Edition and Business Edition. The Business Edition packages add ESET Remote Administrator allowing for server deployment and management, mirroring of threat signature database updates and the ability to install on Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
5. F-Secure Antivirus
is an anti-virus and computer security software company based in Helsinki, Finland. The company has large branch offices in the USA and Japan, where some antivirus analysis and software development work is also being undertaken. F-Secure Corp. is publicly traded on the Helsinki Stock Exchange under the symbol FSC1V.
6. AVG Antivirus
Is an umbrella term for a range of anti-virus and internet security software for the Microsoft Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD computing platforms, developed by AVG Technologies, a privately held Czech company formerly known as Grisoft.
7. McAfee VirusScan
Is a popular antivirus program created and maintained by McAfee, formerly known as Network Associates. VirusScan is designed for home and home-office use; McAfee also develops VirusScan Enterprise for use in corporate environments. The product is not available as a standalone package, but is included in the McAfee VirusScan Plus package or as part of McAfee Internet Security Suite. McAfee also produces a similar product for Mac OS X under the name of VirusScan for Mac. Additionally, BSkyB and McAfee have produced a “Sky Broadband” branded version of VirusScan, offered free to Sky Digital customers upon broadband modem installation.
8. G DATA Antivirus

9. Norton Antivirus
Developed and distributed by Symantec Corporation, provides malware prevention and removal during a subscription period. It uses signatures and heuristics to identify viruses. Other features include e-mail spam filtering and phishing protection.
Symantec distributes the product as a download, a box copy, and as OEM software. Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security, a related product, held a 61% antivirus market share as of 2007. Competitors, in terms of market share, include antivirus products from CA, Trend Micro, and Kaspersky Lab.
Norton AntiVirus runs on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Version 17.0.0.136 is the latest Windows build. Windows 7 support is in development for versions 2006 through 2009. Version 2010 will natively support Windows 7, without needing an update. Version 11.0 is the latest Mac build.
10. Trend Micro
Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware is a full-featured and well-equipped program that is geared towards keeping your computer free of viruses and spyware. It is easy to configure for nearly any antivirus need. It causes significant computer slowdowns occasionally, but makes up for these issues with thorough scanning and frequent updates.

Really? most of my friends are also using NOD32 and they really like the performance of it.
